College Student Cover Letter Sample 1
I am submitting this letter and the enclosed resume to express my interest in seeking employment at your organization.
I am about to graduate from college with a degree in (subject). This field of study has fascinated me since I was a child and I am fortunate to have been able to study it. I want to put my degree to use to secure employment at your company.
My college years have been challenging. I have learned a lot about myself and what I want from life. However, looking back on the years I’ve devoted to my studies, I can say that they’ve shaped me into the young adult I’ve become. One of the most valuable skills I’ve acquired is perseverance. I know now that I must be prepared to work hard for the things I want to achieve.
One of the things that I feel is important when it comes to the work environment is soft skills. My hard skills won’t be in doubt as I have the degree to prove I have them. However, soft skills are equally important because, without them, a person cannot function in a work environment. Such skills include communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. Having worked several part-time jobs during my studies has taught me many of the soft skills I need to make my future employment a success.
My education is divided into two sections: academic studies and the school of real life. Having been exposed to both, I am confident that I would be a valuable addition to your workforce. I would appreciate the chance to meet with you in person to tell you more about myself and why I am so interested in working for your company.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
College Student Cover Letter Sample 2
Please accept this cover letter and attached resume as part of my application to your university. I am confident that my academic record and my personal attributes would persuade you to consider my application to become part of your university. Not many people have the opportunity to go to your school and it would be an honor to be part of the alumni one day.
Although there are surely many students who have better academic records than my own. The story behind the scenes, however, is what makes my grades stand out above the rest. I grew up in a stable home, yet my parents could not afford all the luxuries that some of my peers grew accustomed to. They taught me that I could achieve anything if I worked hard enough and therein lies the difference.
I have never set a goal that I did not achieve, that does not mean that I set the bar low, on the contrary, I have always strived to better myself in every aspect of my life. I know the value of hard work and I know that I can reach any goal that I set. This university has one of the best engineering programs in the country, if not the world and I strongly believe that I can succeed if my application is successful. This is not because I have all the skills, but because I know how to identify the areas where I lack and work towards a solution in developing my own shortcomings.
On paper, there might be many applicants with better qualifications, but there are not many who have better qualities. It is better to teachable than to think you know it all. The world is changing fast and the future generation of engineers need to be able to solve more complex problems that before. I look forward to hearing from you.
